Club Championship
Club Championship 2012
As in previous years, the club championship is a five round swiss
tournament with seeding in the early rounds.
It is played during the summer months after the end of the league season
and before the start of the next league season. The current format of
the club championship evolved from the informal summer swiss tournament
which used to run just in the summer months, unlike the club
championship that ran throughout the year. The original club
championship was not completed during the year of the tragic death of
Harry Marsden who was leading the tournament at the time. It was a
number of years before club championship was started again. It was
natural that the summer swiss evolved into the club championship.
